weekend excursions.

okay i just wrote out my entire entry and uploaded all the photos and then it randomly deleted because i'm an idiot. and there's no way i'm writing it all again.

in a nutshell, we went to normandie this weekend and it was cool. war is scary. i hate being on a bus for 5 hours. the end.

i miss new york.

discotheques.

so i didn't post yesterday because i was actually enjoying my first night out in paris =] during the day i had a meeting for ISA and then I went for lunch/shopping with some other girls. i really like the people in this program and i have to say, it's kind of nice being around people that aren't from nyu (aside from my friends, of course. i miss you all, by the way). after that, i came back to my apartment to take a nap (i get so tired here for no reason...i should be used to walking all day) and then we got ready to go out at around 10. our plans got kind of screwed up because we all wanted to drink some wine on the champs elysees together and then head over to the club, buuuut it was raining. that kind of sucked, but i ended up just hanging out here with the roomies.
you can buy wine at like, corner stores here. it's awesome. anyway! the club was ridiculous...the entrance was on the side of the sidewalk that's more towards the cars and there was a stairway downstairs. it was student night or rather "f*ck school" night, if you will. we all ended up getting in for free, so that was cool, and then american boys bought us drinks. basically, all i spent money on was half a bottle of wine and the cab ride home. sweet deal. i can't wait to do it again.
today was productive, despite my lack of classes yet again. i woke up super early and went to the marais district to find that thrift store/have some ridiculously amazing falafel.
i ended up just getting the sweater i wanted and not the jean shorts...but i'm definitely gonna try and go again before i leave. they have good stuff. after that, i went to montmartre to meet jill and hillary. we walked all the way up to the sacre coeur and it was gorgeous.

we walked around town a bit, too, and then went all the way to the louvre so the girls could see the pyramids and le jardin tuilleries. as much as i hate the louvre, it's really gorgeous from the outside. we walked through the garden, saw the obelisk and then wandered around a bit.
we grabbed coffee and pain au chocolat before we split up and then i met jodi for dinner somewhere i've never been before (and to be honest, i have no idea what the name is). in conclusion, i'm absolutely exhausted from a ton of walking and little sleep...but it was totally worth it. tomorrow is normandy...we're waking up at 6:30, god help me. pumped! mkay, bye.

crepes.

yes, crepes are awesome. i had one today, in fact!

with nutella and bananas and it was absolutely magnifique.

that was after this morning, though, when i slept in, headed to a cafe across the street and had some coffee while writing in my journal. that was pretty awesome, too. my roomies had class all morning, so i did that until they got out and then i met them at the ISA office to pick up my meal money. the office is actually near where our dorms are going to be when we move next week, so we explored a little. [that's where we got the crepes, so there's plenty more to be had...]my goal is to not have to do this by the end of my time here:

the weather was kind of iffy, but we managed to get in a walk through the park before it really started pouring.

afterwards, we just came back here and rested a little bit until i went to meet my friend heather [who's actually jaqi's best friend from school] at her apartment in the 11th arrondissement. we went for falafel near the place de vosges...SO delicious...and then stopped in this thrift store where i found the cutest sweater and jean shorts. i told myself not to get them...and i didn't...but i'm totally going back either tomorrow or the day after. i have minimal self control. but yeah. after that we went back to her apartment and ended up hanging out in the park with some of her friends who are french. it's kind of cool that she's made so many french friends...that's probably the best way to learn the language. plus she's like fluent now...so basically she's my idol. sweet. okay well i guess that's it? i've got this meeting for ISA tomorrow and then i'm going out with some people from the program. should be good times. au revoir!

wanna know what else is awesome?

there is so much eye candy here it blows my mind.

in other news, today we had orientation. it was literally the longest 4 hours of my life in the most uncomfortable seats in the world. but it's okay because i don't have class tomorrow and fully plan on sitting a cafe drinking cafe au lait and eating croissant and writing in my journal and taking pictures.

also, people here are cool. as much as i love this apartment, i can't wait to move into the dorms. it's gonna be way more interesting.

so far i've only taken a few pictures, but that's only 'cause i didn't bring my nikon with me. this is what i have for you...my bed (which i think is actually kind of adorable):

and this picture of two people at the seine (which i'm kind of obsessed with for no reason whatsoever):

mkay that's it for today. miss and love you all, bon nuit!
